Miray Innovations was launched in 2023 in Fergus, Ontario, Canada as a proudly Canadian-owned food brand with one clear mission: to bring heritage-inspired, healthconscious foods to modern tables. In line with this vision, Pap Special is the company’s flagship product.
As the founder of Miray Innovations Inc., and an African-Canadian mom living in Ontario, Funmi was driven by a deep desire to share one of the most cherished foods of her childhood — Ogi (also known as Akamu or Koko) — a traditional West African fermented cereal known for its rich taste and digestive benefits. Growing up, Ogi was a staple in many households. Made from fermented grains like corn, millet, or sorghum, it’s a nutrient-packed comfort food; gentle enough as first solid for babies and nourishing enough for adults recovering from illness. But it wasn’t just about the food; it was about connection, culture, and care.
With Pap Special, Miray Innovations is reimagining this classic through a modern lens, using natural grains, small-batch fermentation, and Canadian food safety standards in a public health- inspected kitchen.
